Recently I was doing my regular habit of browsing around the internet when I happened to stumble across an article on how different colors have psychological effects on us. I found this very interesting, and I would like to share my notes on it.
Well, it looks like I’ll go in the rainbow order. Red is emotionally intense. It stimulates a faster heartbeat and breathing. It attracts attention, makes things noticed. It is the color of love and makes the wearer appear heavier. At the first website, it did not mention anger or hate, but as I looked around I found that it invokes feelings of excitement or intensity, or just strong emotions in general.
Bam! Yellow is the attention getter (the most extreme), as it is overpowering and the hardest color on your eyes. Please, please, don’t put this as your blog page’s background, even if yellow is supposed to enhance concentration. Yellow causes feelings of annoyance and causes people to lose their temper more. It does enhance metabolism though.
Ah green. Green is calming, refreshing, and relaxing. It also improves your vision, probably because it is the easiest color on your eyes. Oh, and of course it symbolizes nature.
Causes the body to produce calming chemicals making one feel peaceful and tranquil. Although it can also be cold and depressing. Blue is the color of loyalty and increases productivity. (Research said so! Believe the science!)
The color of luxury, wealth and sophistication. It also can symbolize being feminine and romantic, but when I think of that I lose my like for purple. Apparently it can also make something seem artificial.
Romantic. Thanks, I think I would’ve guessed that. AH, but wait! It is also tranquilizing; makes you lose energy. Lovely. That didn’t help your cause, pink. I still don’t like you much. Except the pink panther is cool.
For genuineness. Apparently a study was conducted saying that a good percentage of males have brown as their favorite color. Interesting. Oh, brown can also come across as wistful and sad.
Is the color of power and authority. It is said to imply submission, but at the same time come across as overpowering and even aloof or evil. Black is stylish and timeless, and makes people appear thinner… but everyone knows that.
Well, those are the colors I have information on. Yes, I know there is no orange, but it is called an energetic color and causes feelings of excitement, enthusiasm, and warmth.
Anyway, you people can apply this knowledge to your wardrobe or your blog themes. Get the feeling you want in the subconscious mind.
