Do you have a bad habit? Biting your finger nails? Drawing on your desk? Leaving class without asking? Leaving a conversation in the middle of saying a sentence? (You know who you are). I have them just like everyone else. One of them is destructive fiddling.
Luckily, it’s not damaging destruction usually. It’s more like ripping things apart, doodling all over my work until it’s illegible, stapling things that don’t need to be stapled, taking apart pens or electronics then putting them back together, etc. I guess it could be a side effect of my poor focus. I usually have to do something to stay focused. For example, I tend to doodle to listen to speeches.
If you are like me, you may want to find this journal I found. It’s called “Wreck this Journal”.
Inside, there are instructions on how to destroy the journal. There are things like “Crack the Spin”, “Tear out and Crumple” and “Find a way to Wear this Journal”. My favourite page is “Make a sudden, destructive, unpredictable movement with the journal”. Who wouldn’t enjoy this? Have some fun and let your destructive self out once in a while!
